Product/Mechanical Engineer PDF Document

Avir Sensors is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to assist with the mechanical packaging, design, and manufacturing of new chemical detector products to meet customer and market requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Confer with Avir technical and marketing staff to obtain technical product design requirements
  • Research and analyze design specifications to evaluate feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements
  • Specify and/or design system components to ensure conformance with design, performance, and customer specifications
  • Produce, update, and maintain mechanical drawings and design documentation
  • Coordinate mechanical aspects of prototype and product builds with manufacturing
  • Manage and respond to requirements of product certification processes (UL, CE, FM, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or relevant work experience
  • Experience in mechanical design for hazardous environments
  • Familiarity with requirements for equipment certifications such as IAFF Class I Div II, NEMA4X, etc.
  • Proficient in the use of CAD software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Pro/ENGINEER, as well as Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to prioritize and work effectively on multiple concurrent projects and tasks with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively convey technical matters to non-technical staff
