Avir Sensors is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to assist with the mechanical packaging, design, and manufacturing of new chemical detector products to meet customer and market requirements.
Responsibilities include:
- Confer with Avir technical and marketing staff to obtain technical product design requirements
- Research and analyze design specifications to evaluate feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements
- Specify and/or design system components to ensure conformance with design, performance, and customer specifications
- Produce, update, and maintain mechanical drawings and design documentation
- Coordinate mechanical aspects of prototype and product builds with manufacturing
- Manage and respond to requirements of product certification processes (UL, CE, FM, etc.)
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or relevant work experience
- Experience in mechanical design for hazardous environments
- Familiarity with requirements for equipment certifications such as IAFF Class I Div II, NEMA4X, etc.
- Proficient in the use of CAD software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Pro/ENGINEER, as well as Microsoft Office products
- Ability to prioritize and work effectively on multiple concurrent projects and tasks with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively convey technical matters to non-technical staff
